Friends, do our stories matter as moms? Should we share our stories?
Or should we only share our “social highlights”?
YES! Absolutely! Our Stories Matter!
I had a full gamut of emotions as my due date got closer with my first baby.
Yes, I had some idea of what to expect from hearing other moms experiences and reading. However, I was still anxious as my due date approached.
Since becoming a mother I have had several instances of running through the gamut of emotions when I face a new and unknown aspect of being a mother.
Similarly, I have had several instances of running the range of emotions as I continue on my entrepreneurial journey – and all the unknowns.
One of the fundamental things that have helped me put on my big girl panties as a mom and entrepreneur is hearing and seeing other moms, women and yes, men’s stories.
Does Our Stories Matter?
Does Your Story Matter?
Is it important for us to share our stories?
YES! YES! And YES!!!
IF SHE DID IT, I CAN DO IT TOO!!!
When we see and hear that another mom has done such and such. We know that “IF SHE DID IT, I CAN DO IT TOO”!
We gain HOPE and INSPIRATION to take ACTION and CONQUER our fears when we see that it’s possible.
If she CAN do it, I CAN do it too…
If she DID it, I CAN do it too…
This is why it’s important for us to tell our stories. And why I’m telling my story and sharing my journey.
Moms Sharing Their Journey Helped Me Gain Confidence That I Too Can…
Social media is often spoken about for all the negative aspects. But, I’m so very thankful for social media as a mom and entrepreneur.
I’m grateful for the stories that show – it’s possible…
I’m grateful for all the free education, knowledge and inspiration I receive.
Seeing Other Moms “Stories” Help Me Gain Confidence
I had apprehension about flying alone with my daughters.
Seeing other moms traveling with three, four and five kids alone made me calm down when I flew by myself with my toddler and then again when I first flew alone with my two young daughters.
One of my best friends was celebrating her 15-year wedding anniversary in Canada.
I was a bridesmaid in her wedding and we are Godmothers for each other’s daughters.
My husband couldn’t make the trip. I panicked a bit when I started to think about how I would manage both girls, our suitcases, two car seats, and double stroller!
I wasn’t going to miss celebrating with my friend. And, I wasn’t leaving my daughters.
I remember seeing posts of my friends and mom’s in my network traveling with their children alone.
This gave me hope.
I remember thinking, such and such did it, I can do it too!
Research Additional Tips and Tools and Make Your Plan
I also Googled tips for traveling with kids and found several blog posts. I took the tips that I thought would help me and made a plan.
The girls and I had a wonderful “girls trip” to Canada. We created memories with my friend and her family for a lifetime!
We have gone on multiple travel adventures since and we have another upcoming trip next month. My seven-year-old is very excited and keeps asking if I have gotten our tickets as yet.
She has no apprehension of traveling without daddy. She knows we can do it.
Hearing Entrepreneurs Stories Inspired me to Start and Inspires me to Keep Going
Hearing Entrepreneurs Stories of Overcoming Obstacles and Creating a Business and Life they love gave me the gumption to do the same.
I realized going back to work for someone/company would not allow me to be the mother, wife and person I wanted and felt called to be.
However, I had no idea where to start.
I wanted to build a business using the talents God gave me.
I was so confused!
My problem. I have a lot of interests and ideas for businesses.
And, I wanted to do them all at the same time.
Thankfully I have a husband that knows how to handle my craziness and is able to tell me when I’m off the wall yet still Encourage and Supports me to go after my dreams.
I share the steps I went through that helped me gain clarity and get started with my business in this blog post.
Women and Moms Sharing Their Stories Educated Me and Educates Me Daily
I knew I needed to have an online business and continue my coaching career in some capacity.
I researched different online businesses.
Looked into multi-level marketing businesses.
Watched videos of different successful online business owners.
Trying to find something that would help me see how I could…
Until I came across an Entrepreneur named Ruth Soukup. I kept seeing her pop up on facebook and signed up for a free blog course she offered in 2018.
Through that free course, I learned about her career trajectory and success.
That Sparked a Fire in me. I became intrigued and Inspired.
I had no idea this world existed! It still feels like blogging is a secret world. And, I’m still learning about all these different facets.
I learned that Ruth had built an online business from scratch with a lot of hard work. I was then introduced to several other women who Ruth assisted in creating amazing businesses throughout the world where they were making a positive impact on lives throughout the world.
WHAT!
They are doing what!
Oh, my goodness! I CAN DO THIS TOO!
By Sharing Their Stories, These Moms Made Me See That I Can Do it too
I remember the day vividly like it was yesterday.
The day I decided the take a chance on myself and invest in ME.
Yes, I have three degrees and over 15 years of experience working.
But, I had no knowledge or education about starting a business from scratch without the support of a company.
I have started departments from scratch and revamped departments successfully, but, I had goals and expectations to my managers and company to guide me.
It is completely different when you are not accountable to anyone!
And must come up with and achieve your own goals – starting a business.
I needed a roadmap to help guide me. So, I purchase a course and joined a community.
The road is rocky like you’re driving on a country road that was paved years ago with a lot of potholes, but when you keep going…
Laugh when you fall in those darn potholes. And then get back up!
You keep going as you know that when you keep working you will get to your destination.
And, you may just be amazed at how much strength and Gumph you have.
Who knows – you may just discover talents you never dared yourself to dream of…
Because they did it, YOU can do it too!
I heard the stories of how these women did it and continue to do it.
- Be Great Moms while having a Career.
- Creating companies that have given them the flexibility to care for their families while using their talents to Serve others.
- Creating financial security and peace for themselves and their families.
With an attitude of Keep Trying, Faith, Hard Work these moms achieved even more than they dared to dream of!
- It’s the same ‘if they did it” attitude I used when I wasn’t sure how to manage with a newborn baby.
- I leaned on “if they did it” again when I moved from Florida to the DC Metro area taking the auto train with my 11-month-old baby and a car full of all it could hold. I had to start my new job in DC, and my husband was preparing for the Florida Bar exam. We do what we need to do when faced with challenging situations in life.
But, it sure does makes a difference when we see that others have done it successfully before.
She did it! They did it! I am Doing it and You Can Do It too mama!
Be fierce, stand strong, dig deep!
Fight for the dreams you have been dreaming of.
You can make those dreams a reality.
Yes, You!!!
Get up and make a move. Take one step at a time.
You will be amazed when you look back at the progress you made.
Take a chance on yourself mama…you are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!
Moms, Why Our Stories Matter? Why Your Story Matter?

- Your experience Educates other moms – giving them Tips and Tools – from someone that has walked that path…
- Your Story may just be the Spark that Ignites fire for a lost mom.
- You will open minds to opportunities that they didn’t know exist.
I listened to a podcast that said: “it is your responsibility to share your talents and experiences”…
What do you think?
Does your story matter?
Absolutely Yes! Your Story Matter! Our Stories Matter!
Why We May Feel Our Stories Don’t Matter
I totally understand your apprehension of sharing your stories. Especially in and on virtual social environments.
I worked on this blog for over one year without sharing it.
Because;
- I was afraid of it not been good enough.
- Afraid of letting people into my private world.
- Afraid of opening the door to the unknown.
- And afraid of what people would say.
I’m working on it. Each day. With each story and experience, I share it gets easier.
You are not alone!
By sharing your story you may just help someone and open a door for both of you to….
We live in a big small world.
Let’s do this! I know you can!
Please share with me how someone’s story helped you. Or how you shared your story and helped someone.
