I am fortunate to have had strong women to look up to in my family, life and career who provided guidance, mentorship, support and kicked my you know what when I needed that nudge.

Oh, and trust me, I still need this support and encouragement even more now as a mother.I had to shed a few tears last week. I felt as though I was literally beaten up. My husband was traveling and I was solo with my two daughters for a week.

Big shout out to all Single Mothers and Parents! You are Rockstars!

Because My Mother Received Support I Prevailed

Based on “history and statistics” I should not be where I am today. My mother had me when she was 19 years old. Right before she was to go to college. She stayed with me for one year before going to college. Over the next eight to nine years I was raised by a village. I am a village child! My mother has a supportive village that stepped in and poured into me for years while she pursued an education, career and worked to secure a better life for us.

When Mothers Receive Support, We’re Supporting Our Future Leaders

Having this foundation and support throughout my life has made me stronger and confident to go after my dreams.
I want to help moms to have access to support no matter where you live or where you’re from.

I “gain life” when I see and hear mothers working hard, overcoming their challenges and making a positive impact – carving their own path…

I worked with a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. that serves underserved populations. A large percentage of our students were young women who had become mothers when they were babies themselves. Just like my mother.

I came to realize that a lot of these young women never had the opportunity to learn from positive role models and phenomenal women.

I started to think about how we could inspire and support these young girls before they came to our organization. What was the root cause of their situation? I do not have the answers; however, I wholeheartedly know that exposure to Phenomenal Woman | Rockstar Career Moms would encourage these young women to RISE-up despite their situations.

Without the support of the village that raised me, including my grandmother, mother and aunts I would have become a “statistic”.

There is Power in Our Stories!

When we hear the stories of moms who share their journey of becoming Rockstar Career Moms – we all will be inspired to say and know – “If She Did It, I Can Do It Too!!!”. 

Let’s form a community of sisterhood where we uplift, salute and empower each other.

• With the hope that we can inspire moms who are frustrated and hopeless as they can’t see how they can have a career and be a great mother.
• With the hope that we can make a difference for young girls who have never heard that they are beautiful, capable, smart and worthy!
• With the hope that we can be living examples for all our daughters.In Jesus’s name, Amen!!!
