First Public Confession of a “Perfectionist”!
I took a fear assessment last year and it said I’m a Procrastinator! Perfectionism is one of the traits of a Procrastinator.
Procrastinator! Who? ME!
Anyone who’s worked with me knows I get things done! And I take pride in doing them well, to the absolute best of my ability!
I was appalled at this result.
However, as I read the description – I saw how this has played into my life, especially, how it’s hindered me on my journey as an Entrepreneur.
I took the test again earlier. And I got the same result!!! Proc
So, here it is. My Confession!
I’m a Perfectionist, who tries to do everything to my very best. However, this is hindering me from moving forward.
I guess I’m afraid of making mistakes and, unfortunately, what other people think. Especially when I see how people can be unkind in this virtual world.
I seriously have always thought of myself as been fearless. In most things.
But, I have learned [through studying the Ennegram]that I have not allowed myself to think about the things that cause me pain or I fear. In order to not let them hold me back.
Here’s a snapshot of my Fear Assessment Results
You can take the assessment at Ruth Soukup, Do it Scared Website for Free. There is an option to upgrade to a paid version as well.
Receiving The Message.
I NEED to GET OVER BEING a perfectionist in ORDER to OVERCOME procrastination.
I have been hearing the message, “you need to learn to get scrappy and be messy”.
Now, this goes against everything I have learned and lived!
My high school friends from Wolmer’s High School Girls know this. Our school Moto is,
“AGE QUOD AGIS”. Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability!
Have I taken this to the extreme or is this just how I was created! hmm…
It has been a challenge for me to be messy. I don’t do messy! But, I’m trying!
Another Confession – Since…
I’m a terrible speller, who’s added Writer and Blogger as one of the “hats” I wear.
What do they say, ROFL?
I’m bad with pop culture and text language too… I just Googled “roll over laughing” to get the abbreviation.
My poor husband has suffered when we play games where you have to spell. Oh, and don’t mention spelling backward!
Letting Go and Going All In
So, I have been working on letting go. Going ALL in so I can move forward.
It’s taken a long time for me to get here.
When I realized that I have been making this about me and NOT focusing on this calling I have been given! Entrusted to carry!
I have to LET GO and LET GOD
Hear goes, friends! Did you see how long it took me to get to this point…
